Objective and Brief Description

The objective of the scheme is to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs through design and hence spread awareness on importance of design and its learning.

Who can apply?

Expert agencies(industries associations, technical institutions or other appropriate bodies) for conducting seminars and workshops
MSMEs or Group of MSMEs as prime applicants
Academic institutes/design company/ design consultants etc as co-applicants along with a designated MSME (prime applicant)
Individual (e.g. design students) as co-applicants in collaboration with the academic institution and MSME (prime applicant)

What is funded?

Funding support for ‘Design Awareness’ workshops & seminars
Funding support for implementing ‘Design’ projects

Extent of Funding Support

GoI contribution of Rs. 60 thousand per seminar and 75 % subject to a maximum of Rs 3 lakhs per workshop
60% of the total approved project cost or Rs. 9.0 Lakhs, whichever is less, in case of a individual MSME or a group of not more than three MSME applicants
60% of the total approved project cost or Rs. 15 Lakhs, whichever is less, in case of a group of four or more MSME applicants
40% to be contributed by the applicant MSME(s) in both cases
Reimbursement of 75% of expenses by GoI subject to maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh for final year student. 25% to be contributed by MSME.

Application procedure

For conducting workshop and seminar, the expert agencies can directly apply to the design clinic centers.
For design projects Application can be made by MSMEs without a design company or along with design consultant/academic institution, by submitting proposal to Design Clinic Center or through internet.

Remarks

For units to apply for this scheme the beneficiary unit should be new to using design and preferably should not have used internal or external design expertise before A unit is free to chose a design consultant from the list of empanelled consultant or in case no consultant is chosen by the unit the Design Clinic Center will allot a consultant.
